The Only 2 Ways to Treat Acne

skin treatment benzoyl peroxide 10 gel

As young teenagers going through the changes of puberty, it's not uncommon to experience a face full of pimples. However, many parents assured woeful teenagers that acne would be a thing of the past once adulthood came along. Well into adulthood, many people are still experiencing the embarrassing stigma attached to acne. From cystic pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, clogged pores and scars, so many adults are walking around willing to pay top dollar to the first person with a cure. There are few ways to tackle the issue as it comes and there are a few preventative measures to take when dealing with acne.

1. Use topical treatments.

Topical treatments are really good for treating the skin and its ailments. If you're dealing with a pimple on your nose and you'd like to eliminate the pus and swelling, there are a few steps to take. Even though many people discourage popping pimples, there is an effective way to do it and decrease its unsightly appearance. Steam the skin with a steamer or a hot washcloth for a few minutes to open the pores. Cover two fingers with a cloth and gently stretch the skin over the pimple. As the skin breaks, the pimple will pop and lots of pus and fluid will emerge. Once the pimple gets drained, use a benzoyl peroxide 10 gel and apply it over the pimple. The gel acts like a salve to soothe and heal the area. It will also help to prevent scarring from occurring. After a few days of applying a benzoyl peroxide gel, use fresh lemon juice as an astringent and toner over the skin. If there is any potential for discoloration, the lemon juice is an excellent solution for it.

2. Eat healthy foods and drink lots of water.

Nowadays, many people are unsure of what's considered healthy because of the way foods are marketed. However, food in its most natural state is the healthiest. Foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains are the best to consume. For many people, dairy only exacerbates an issue with acne. Try to eliminate as much dairy as possible. Additionally, drink lots of water because water purifies and cleanses the internal system. The hair, skin and nails are the last places to receive the nutritional value of water so drink lots of it to cleanse the skin. Sugary substances are very dangerous for the skin as well. Something about sugar and dairy triggers the skin in a negative way. For a sweet taste, try using natural sweeteners like honey and agave nectar. Your skin will thank you.

Lime or Lemon to Treat Dark Spot on Skin (Age Spots)

lime-lemon

There are so-called age spots (dark spots on the skin) that appear when we get older. Others may get dark elbow and armpit due to excessive frictions. But don’t worry a well known dermatologist in the Philippines Dr. Katty Go advice to do this to lessen the dark spot or vanish it in the long run. And it is very simple and economical that you can actually found in your kitchen without breaking your budget.

Apply a mixture of water with lime or lemon juice every day. (3 parts of water and 1 part lime)

Do this every night before washing your face and leave it for about 3 minutes.

Be careful not to exceed the minimum time or it might break the skin because of its acidic effect. You need to wait up to 2 months to see its results.

Tips on Keeping a Naturally Looking Tan as the Temperature Drops

Yes, cooler temperatures are arriving. Once the first chill is felt in the air, people often let their sunless tanning routine go by the wayside. After all, it's time to get the sweaters and jeans out, right? While that may be true, cool weather doesn't mean you need to put an end to getting your glow on. You will, however, want to change up your routine a bit in order to look your natural best. Tanning salons are still the way to go because they provide the best and most natural-looking coverage, with staff that can help you to choose a shade that looks good on you and doesn't stand out in the fall and winter months. Keep these tips in mind in order to enhance your naturally looking tan as the temperature drops.

Moisturize and Exfoliate

Exfoliating sloughs off dead skin cells, creating a smooth surface for your tanning product. As the winter cools down, it's even more important than ever to exfoliate. Once the heat comes on indoors and the wind becomes frigid outside, your skin will become dryer. So after you've exfoliated in the shower, it's imperative that you slather on a nice moisturizer from head to toe, paying special attention to rough areas like ankles, knuckles, elbows and knees.

Shave

Don't neglect to shave simply because you're no longer wearing shorts every day. Going hair-free on your legs and underarms also helps to give you a smooth tanning surface. Plus, it just feels good and allows your lotion and exfoliator to work better. It's okay to skip some days, as long as you're sure to do it before your tanning appointment.

Go Easy

Talk to the staff at your salon about the kind of color you have in mind. Some people prefer to maintain a dark bronze all year long, but it may look a bit more natural to shoot for a simple sun-kissed glow. Make sure you have communicated your wishes and that you're on the same page as the attending who is helping you. If you're not happy with the look, you can always go a bit darker.

These tips should have you well on your way to looking good and feeling confident during the gloomy colder months. Maintaining a sun tan routine is a fabulous way to pamper yourself.

Erase Anti-acne / Depigmenting Solution (Scar Remover) Review

Erase, Anti-acne, Depigmenting, Scar, solution
Erase Anti-acne / Depigmenting solution

Hi guys, I just want to share with you my review with Erase solution. Actually I have been using this for years and always present in my beauty kit. It actually lightens my scars but not literally erasing it since I can still see the cut in the skin that are already heal. Scars from wound or cut usually leave the skin a darker color when healed and this product turn that color into a lighter color.

Erase, Anti-acne, Depigmenting, Scar, solution

I bought the smaller roller that has 7 ml in it which I purchased at Watson for Php 99.00 and I think this is also available in all drugstores and department store. In the package it says Tretinoin UK Derm Erase 250mcg/ml Anti-acne and depigmenting solution for scars, wrinkles, pumples, freckles, stretchmarks, dark elbows and knees. In the back of the package it says: UK Derm Erase Anti-acne and Depigmenting solution provides peeling action followed by regeneration of new tissues of the ageing skin, improves skin texture thus reducing dryness and fine line. (Basta may tretinoin pang acne usually yan but I never use it purposely for my acne or pimple, I just use this baby mainly for the dark scars).

Erase, Anti-acne, Depigmenting, Scar, solution
after

Above is the pic of the scars in my hand that already healed and lightened with the use of erase, sorry I cannot provide the before picture but I assure you that the color of this scar before is super dark skin and very annoying to look at. It is not noticeable now but when I stretch it I can still see the bump that the wound leave.

Pros:

  • very cheap
  • available locally
  • easy to use because it is a roller
  • no smell
  • lightens dark scar

Cons:

  • doesn’t work for keloids, stretch mark, wrinkles and freckles (anyway di ko naman sya talaga ginagamit para doon kasi kakaunti lang naman ang laman eh, mauubos agad)
  • the lightening effect on dark scar will take time (tyagaan lang talaga)

My verdict:

My recommendation is 9 out of 10 and is highly recommended since it is cheap and you can use it for a very long long time (promise).

5 Tips to Clear, Carefree Skin

skin care at home, sandara park

Beautiful, carefree skin is what everyone desires. Some people are lucky enough not to have to try so hard, whereas others have been faced with a constant battle their entire lives. No matter who you are, or what state your skin is in at the moment, try incorporating the following five tips to get you on track to clear, carefree skin.

1. Keep it Natural

Often the products that make skin irritated are the ones filled with too many additives and artificial ingredients. Natural products such as soaps, oils and creams from an eco-friendly retailer such as Biome could be just what you need if your skin needs more earthy influence rather than highly manufactured goods. Honey, coconut and rose-hip oils are common natural choices all aimed at repairing and revitalising your skin.

2. Wash and Scrub

Each day your skin will build up countless surface germs, none of which are particularly healthy for it. The longer you leave things like sweat and dirt on the skin, the more likely it is to cause irritation. For shower time, avoid wash products with too many additives, and use a natural fibre loofa brush to scrub away.

3. You Are What You Eat

You may have heard this countless times, but what you put into your body affects your overall health, including what your skin looks like. Foods high in vitamin A, C and E are a must for healthy skin. These power houses are responsible for things like collagen production, protecting your skin cell membranes, and even repairing skin tissue. Look for foods like almonds, oranges, broccoli and carrots to get you started. Vitamin supplements won’t go astray either, and make sure to drink plenty of water every day.

4. Protect It

UV radiation is one of the worst things you can expose your skin to, and it’s made even worse by the fact that a lot of the damage doesn’t show itself until years later. It’s not uncool to wear sunscreen anymore, so make sure you put on plenty when you’re outdoors, and reapply it regularly. It only takes a few minutes of direct sunlight during peak hours in summer to start causing damage.

5. Moisturise

If you ever want to have subtle, glowing skin, you have to moisturise, from head to toe, every day. Don’t just use any moisturiser though, as everyone has different skin types and sensitivities. Try a couple of different products on small sections of your skin first to see which feels the best. It’s also important to note what the season is, as thicker moisturisers are usually needed in winter to cope with drier skin.
Lifestyle habits and genetics do play a significant role in whether or not you have good skin, but it doesn’t automatically mean all is lost if you happen to be sitting in the negative category. By following some of the above tips you will find your skin more in balance and your overall confidence boosted because of it.
What do you feel might be some of your worst lifestyle habits that are contributing to your bad skin? Write your answers below.

Keeping Balance: 3 Ways to Manage Your Stress Levels

stress

Stress is a part of life in the 21st century, so learning how to deal with it is vital. The bills are going to keep arriving in the mail box, juggling your family and your job will continue to be a challenge, and there will never be enough hours in the day. So, how do you manage to get on top of stress and find balance?

The first thing you need to understand is that you are in the driver’s seat; you are in control of your own life. How you manage your thoughts, your schedule and your problems, is your choice. This realisation can be very empowering but also daunting. If you have no idea where to even begin managing your life it would be a great idea to talk to the stress specialists at talkingminds.com.au/ and learn some effective stress management techniques. Stress is a killer, so learning how to deal with it is a matter of life and death. It’s that important!

What’s Stressing You Out?

You need to identify the sources of stress in your life. This might sound obvious, but it is often more difficult than you think. For instance, you may feel stressed about project deadlines, but is procrastination really the issue? Look at your habits, your attitudes and the excuses you make.
If you feel time-stressed, and most of us do, try putting regular break times into your schedule. If you consistently have millions of things to do consistently, it is likely that you never stop running. Take a break; the million things that need doing will still be there!

Start a stress journal to help you identify when you are stressed and what the main stressors are in your life.

stress-ball

Avoid Stress Where You Can

Now you understand what stresses you out it’s important to start minimising your exposure to those stressors. Of course some things, like bills and deadlines, are unavoidable, but there are many stressors that we can actively minimise and even eliminate from life. Learning how to say ‘no’ will really help. Don’t take on more than you can handle. Simply, say NO. Avoid people that stress you out or at least spend less time with them. Avoid places or situations that create stress for you. If you don’t like the traffic, take a train. If you hate grocery shopping, enlist someone else to do it or shop online. Take a good hard look at your to-do list. If it is appallingly long, then you need to work out what you can cut out. Delegate tasks, drop of jobs that aren’t essential. And avoid the word ‘should’. It is your enemy.

Make Changes

There are stressors in life that you can’t avoid, things you simply cannot change. Alter how you deal with these. Express your feelings instead of bottling them up; compromise your high standards; become more assertive; reframe your problems, try to see them in a different light and focus on the positives.

The Health Benefits of Spas

spa-beauty-rejuvenation

The word “spa” comes from the Latin word Salus per aquam, which translated means “health from water”. A hot tub or spa has many health benefits. Spas have been used by ancient civilisations for centuries. Hot springs can be found naturally throughout the world, but a home spa is just as good. A spa contains many jets which act as therapeutic massage streams aimed at certain parts of the body.

Back Pain

In clinical trials spa therapy has been shown to give effective relief to people with chronic lower back pain. For those suffering from this type of pain, a spa will give greater flexibility and will lessen the need for drug use such as anti-inflammatories. Many of the spa jets will focus on areas of the back and will target back specific muscles. Spas are greatly beneficial for people with sports injuries. The massaging jets of a spa and the warm water will relieve fatigue and transport the lactic acid from the muscles much faster.

Better Sleep

sleep-beauty-rejuvenation

People have trouble sleeping for a number of reasons; stress, pressure at work or at home; medication or health problems. In fact, thousands of people suffer from sleep disorders or insomnia. A soak in a spa before bedtime will lower your body temperature which will induce relaxation and sleep. Spa users will find the transition to sleep much more easily.

Heat

Various forms of heat have been used to treat ailments for years. Think of heat packs, hot water bottles or heat balms. So therefore the benefits of soaking in a hot tub or spa would be enormous. Your body will warm up, your blood flow will increase and your blood vessels will dilate. This will reduce your blood pressure and relax your muscles. The benefit of a spa is that the water remains at a constant warm temperature.

Arthritis

Arthritic people usually respond well to heat therapy. A session in a spa can make the joints more pliable and can improve flexibility. Arthritis sufferers will get massage, warmth and buoyancy from a spa treatment.

Buoyancy

Soaking in water will take body weight off the joints. Feet do an enormous amount of work all day, just holding the body upright. Sitting in a spa means the buoyancy of the water will support body weight and give feet, legs and knees a break. The pressure on wrists, ankles, elbows and neck will also be relieved by a soak in a hot spa.

The health benefits of spa hydrotherapy are many. Sitting buoyant in water up to your neck with tiny nozzles of water and air gently or intensely pinpointing neck, feet and arm muscles can leave you feeling relaxed and can relieve tired aches and pains. It is important to keep your spa well maintained to prevent bacteria build up and to have it ready for use at any time. Have a look at this URL for tips on keeping your spa in top form.

Alternative to a Traditional Facelift

facelift-before-after

As a person ages, the skin begins to sag. This can make a person appear old and haggard. When this occurs, some people consider plastic surgery. However, with the great advancements of technology, it is possible to achieve the look of a face-lift without actually going under the knife.

One of the latest procedures that is used is a liquid facelift. It helps to make a person look fresh and more youthful. It can reverse aging in a gradual manner. It returns collagen and fat that was lost through time. Special filling agents will help to improve appearance.

Using injectable products eliminates the pain and recover time that is associated with surgery. This is especially helpful with loss of facial volume, crow's feet, mild jowls, and other lines on the chin and nose. The best part is that effects are not as drastic as surgery. No one will be able to tell that cosmetic work was done.

An instant face-lift may or may not be permanent. Everything but a fat transfer will need to be repeated every few months or years. Some newer fillers are very popular and will be well tolerated. There is a low chance of an allergic reaction because the key ingredient is a natural substance. Things like Juvederm, Restylane, and Belotero contain hyaluronic acid. These are usually more expensive than other treatments but can last up to a year. Facial fillers like Sculptra cause the body to make collagen, so it lasts even longer. Fat transfers are also returning to popularity. In the past, they were not very effective, but new innovations make them an affordable way to fill in a part of the face. The only area where this is not used is in the lips.

Normally, an instant facelift can be completed in under 30 minutes. The only side effects are minor swelling or bruising that goes away in a day. The cost of the procedure will vary.  Normally, prices will range from $500 to $2000 depending on the amount of product that is needed.

It is essential to find a qualified dermatologist to perform these services. For example, Khrom Dermatology offers a wide variety of general dermatology services to more advanced procedures. This practice is quite knowledgeable about the face's anatomy. Khrom Dermatology also knows that every patient is different. They approach the face in a three dimensional way. Instead of fixing a few lines, they try to achieve a well balanced appearance. Before any procedure is started, doctors will discuss various options to stop facial issues and provide a youthful lift. A complimentary consultation is always provided as well.

Instead of contemplating plastic surgery to return the face back to a more youthful appearance, it is possible to try a liquid face-lift. A qualified dermatologist has the ability to battle age lines without cutting into the skin. As more and more people want to look younger without the drastic side effects of surgery, this type of procedures is sure to become more common.

stretch-marks-removal

Men and women suffer from stretch marks as a result of weight gain and weight loss. During the gain and loss process it causes you to lose elasticity in the skin which makes it difficult to increase the production of collagen. Luckily, stretch marks are no different than scars. Sleeping is the best reward we could ever give to our body, no matter how big we earn by just staying late at night, there is no amount of money we can pay for the sleep deprivation we experience in slowly deteriorating our health.

Magic iLash Review (Again)

Magic Ilash Eyelash Enhancer

Hi all beauties, last time I try to primp my eyelash using a curler and mascara of Maybelline magnum volume express, I notice that it is now easier to curl my eyelash and to put on mascara. I wonder if Magic Ilash lengthen my eyelash or not but before (because I’m so lazy to put on mascara which need to curl first) there is no space for me to curl it.

And if you happen to read my post last year you’ll probably know that I ordered Magic iLash or eyelash enhancer online. It was a dream of me to have a longer eyelashes which for me gives femininity the face of a woman (babaeng babae ang dating). I also updated my post that I didn't see any noticeable result even after a month of using it, see my post here. But guess what, even though I know it’s not effective I continue to use it and even massage in my eyebrow to condition it.

And here’s my pic of my brow and eyelash now, and see if the product is effective or not. But in my opinion I’m still looking for more and hoping that this product really gives what I pay for: to have a thicker and longer eyelash.

I'm not saying that it is effective or not but just judge my picture above of my before and after if it really grows or not.

And if it works for you please comment below your experience.

My Beauche Review

beauche-user

If you suffered from acne or one of the many victims of acne you were not alone and the battle with acne are still happening, actually its forever and it’s our choice if we choose to win or just give up the fight. I am not an expert or anything that specialized when it comes to acne but base on my experience I beat it, well not really having a very clear and smooth skin because from time to time these bastards keeps on occurring and if I don’t take measures, then the nightmare will begin again.

Just like many stories, I have done everything to clear out my pimples using different toner, creams, clindamycin, lemon and etc but none of them do good on my skin, until I tried out the beauche set. Beauche set is a little bit pricey but lesser compare to other known popular brand like proactiv and obagi from different dermatologist. (I was also encouraged by the raves and hype I read online about this product)

Beauche set is Php 750.00 or $18 including skin toner, exfoliating cream, clarifying solution, age eraser cream, beauty bar and rejuvenating cream and has a special instruction that includes in the set.

Note: This product may work for me but may won’t work for others and I read also some complaints that it doesn’t work for others and I suggest that you keep on searching the right product that will satisfy you and continue to use it; if it works for you.

Below is the instruction which comes along with the beauche set:
Night:
  1. Clean face, neck and arms with skin toner using facial cotton.
  2. Wash face with Beauché bar soap.
  3. Apply clarifying Solution with the upward stroke using facial cotton.
  4. Put on generous amount of exfoliating cream. Do not rinse.
  5. After 15 minutes, spread over substantial amount of rejuvenating cream in circular motion. Do not rinse. Let it stay overnight.
Day:
  1. Rub face with ice to close the pores and lift dead skin, and eliminates the night creams.
  2. Wash face with Beauché bar soap.
  3. Spread on face ample amount of age eraser cream to moisturize the skin and to protect from harmful UV rays.
I carefully follow these instructions especially the rubbing of ice and I see the result after 2 weeks of using it. Base on my experience my complexion becomes lighter and has a minimal peeling of the skin although the scar was there but it is slowly fading.

beauche-user

Me with no make-up, no flash and edit/effects on photo, still have scars (still on the process) but no drastic pimples and acne,

Right now I skipped using the rejuvenating cream and age eraser cream (see the product I use here) but I haven’t experience acne or pimples breakouts, plus I also visited salon for facial cleaning of white heads and black heads. I also notice that exfoliating cream is the responsible for drying up the pimples so I actually put some in my pimples and bumps area. And sometimes I also became hiatus with this regimen and some pimples will come out but getting back to beauche saves my face from the curse.

Note again: I am not paid to do this review nor I received a free gift from beauche, this review is totally from my own experience and my own money.

But if you are interested to try out the products of Beauche you may contact my friend Pam at her FB Page: http://facebook.com/beauche101
