You don’t need to be a kid to enjoy dress-up, of course. Halloween invites people of all ages to let their imaginations run wild. However, the older you get, the more that certain factors start to weigh upon your mind. For instance, if you’re a lady of a certain age, that “Sexy in any sense (like this Kim Kardashian sexy Halloween costume)” outfit may expose a bit more flesh than vanity or comfort may deem prudent (honestly, how can girls wear stuff like that when it gets so cold outside?). Here, then, are a few costume suggestions that allow you to exercise your good sense and still let your freak flag fly.

Here’s a classic costume
option. The long black skirt can be
flattering and also let you get away with maybe wearing some thermal
underwear. Also, the makeup, eyeliner
and mascara can be a wrinkle-conscious woman’s best friend.

This is a good choice if
you’re a little daunted by the form-fitting look of Morticia Addams. This character’s heavy pink coat will help
you stay warm, and you can get away with wearing sensible shoes. And if the dowdiness of this look gives you
pause, remember that no less an authority on horror than Stephen King called
this character “the greatest make-believe villain to come along since Hannibal
Lecter.” Also, this costume could help
you channel your inner disciplinarian if you find yourself having to keep some
rowdy kids in line.

This one’s a cinch if you've got an old track suit lying around. Just
get yourself a stopwatch, a whistle and a toy megaphone (or a real one,
depending on the unruliness of your kids) and you’re good to go. One nice thing about this costume: it gives
you an excuse to talk as much trash as you want (particularly if you don’t like
someone’s hair).
Cruella Deville

Here’s a good option if
you’d like to bring out your inner diva.
This character’s humongous white coat makes this outfit a good option if
you’d like to keep warm.
Also, her cigarette holder works nicely if you’re a smoker (though really, you should think about quitting). If the look of the 60’s cartoon seems a little too restricting, you've got some latitude in modifying this costume to suit your comfort level. Watch the 90’s films with the divine Glenn Close or Google images for Cruella Deville to get some ideas.
