When we buy clothes our only concern is its presence in the
store like their style, quality and price. We never bother to know how these
garments are made from its factory or how it greatly impacted our environment.
Some of you might think that I am just being sentimental or corny but after the
super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) hit the Philippines and stole many lives, I
began to think that it is somehow our fault that we never care for our
environment. Earth becomes hotter than before and colder during winter season.
It seems Mother Earth is now collecting our debt whether we like it or not.
That’s why I support the Detox campaign by greenpeace.org
where they try to contact big companies to be responsible and ditch the usage
of hazardous chemicals in their clothing where it usually flows directly in the
sewerage connecting to any bodies of water.
As of now 18 global
fashion leaders have already committed to Detox in response to the growing
international campaign like Nike, Adidas, Puma, H&M, M&S, C&A,
Li-Ning, Zara, Mango,
Esprit, Levi's, Uniqlo,Benetton, Victoria's
Secret, G-Star
Raw, Valentino, Coop, Canepa.
However, other clothing
companies, like GAP, Calvin Klein and Abercrombie&Fitch still need to
respond to the urgency of the situation, Detox their brands and help Detox our
future.
Watch the video below and
be enlightened with the bad effect of fashion in our environment and take some action.
